Counterpunch Parkinson’s – Exercise for People with Parkinson’s

Counterpunch Parkinson’s classes are supervised exercise for people with Parkinson’s.  It is safe fun and effective exercise for unruly bodies.  Exercise is a powerful (but sadly underutilised) form of medicine that helps to fight the progression of Parkinson’s.  Research shows 45 minutes of exercise 5 times a week can help decrease the rate of progression, increase quality of life and improve mental wellbeing.  

My cohort of coaches and I deliver specialised non-contact boxing classes for people with Parkinson’s in Auckland City at Wreck Room gym.  Every session will be a little different and will challenge you in new ways.  We laugh, we punch boxing bags, we squat, we practice balance and so much more.  Expect to be a little out of breath.  We cater for all abilities and fitness levels.  Bring a helper buddy along if you wish.

I feel privileged to be able to work this community.  Two of my passions come clashing together, I get to combine the years of experience as a physiotherapist with the years of experience as a boxer when I coach Counterpunch Parkinson’s classes.  Being involved in this program brings joy to my heart.  My crew shows me every day that we should never give up. We should live as well as we are able to everyday we can.
